About TDf

What is TDf?

TDf is a product of TDf International, which is an organizational company that has been in existence for more than thirty years. They developed the TDF Pattern Inventory out of extensive research. The TDf Pattern Inventory Research manual is available as an Adobe Acrobat Reader from their website: tdfintemational.net. Though the TDf Inventory has had international acclaim in the corporate world, it is relatively unknown in Southwest United States and in the pychotherapy world. However, since Dr. Jerry Brown was in on the early development of TDf he has used the this cognitive based personality instrument in his counseling and training practice for about thirty years.

The concept is easily understood by clients, respects each person's individuality, and they customarily have a positive response. The TDf is more than just another personality profile in that it is an effective tool to facilitate personal, professional and business growth and significant improvement in communications. Dr. Brown uses it in counseling with almost every individual, and all couples and families to increase self-identity, understanding others as well as more effective interpersonal relationships. How to use this tool in your practice or business is what Dr. Brown teaches in the workshops.

TDf Lenses and Patterns

TDf is a way to understand yourself and others by focusing on differences in how we perceive our worlds. Some people see forests; others see trees. Some people see black and white; others see grays.

We all see the world through 3 lenses - each focused on a different aspect of real ity.
  • Our T lens focuses on facts.
  • Our D lens focuses on choices.
  • Our F lens focuses on connections.

We each use all three lenses, but we use them in different mixes, called TDF Patterns. The six possible Patterns are shown below. The order of the letters tells us the relative strengths of each lens. A TDf, for example, sees many facts (T), some choices (D), and fewer connections (F). An FDt, on the other band, sees many connections, some choices, and fewer facts. Because they see different worlds, TDfs and FTds typically act differently, prefer different tasks, and make different choices.

There is no better or worse Pattern. They are just different, because they focus on different parts of reality.

Testimonials

"TDf IS simple, easy to explain, easy to understand, consistent, predictable and truthful. The patterns that emerge are undeniable. It's eye opening in a work environment and in personal life." Steve Gonabe, National Director Human Resource, HSBC, NA
